Why Solar?

Central Coast residents pay some of the highest prices in the nation for electricity. In fact, PG&E has hiked rates over 30% just this year.

Not only has there been a 125 percent increase in PG&E electrical bills since 2014, the grid has also become substantially less reliable with home and business owners facing outages more frequently and for longer durations. With wildfires and intense winter storms battering energy infrastructure, the situation will only get worse.

Enter solar power and battery backup. It is the only viable alternative to soaring utility prices and grid failure. If you’re thinking it’s expensive, think again. The average price paid per kilowatt hour generated by a rooftop solar AND battery system is around $0.22 – $0.25 compared to nearly $0.50 from the utility.

Put simply, if you can afford PG&E you can certainly afford solar and batteries. Why continue renting power at an ever-escalating rate from PG&E when you can generate your own for half the price?

Energy Independence

Going solar with battery backup means independence from the grid.
It not only gives you a reliable power source during outages but also cuts down on your reliance on traditional utility companies. Storing extra energy generated by your solar panels lets you enjoy peace of mind with a sustainable and tough energy solution that’s budget-friendly and good for the environment.
By embracing solar tech with battery backup, you’re taking charge of your energy use and helping create a more self-sufficient tomorrow!

FAQS

  • Switching to low cost clean energy makes sense for a variety of reasons, namely that it costs less than grid power (PG&E or Central Coast Community Energy), increases the value of your home and helps reduce harmful emissions that contribute to extreme weather and wildfires.

  • It really depends on how many panels you need. Small electric bill means you’ll need a small system. If you have a big electric bill or plans to buy electric vehicle/new electric appliances, you’ll need more panels. Other factors like you pitch and make of your roof will determine how much it will cost. Luckily – Allterra offers free quotes and consultations so you’ll know exactly what everything will be before proceeding with the project.

  • Yes – Allterra offers financing that can reduce the initial out of pocket expense and in some cases, make your system cash flow positive from day 1.

  • Yes, the federal investment tax credit (ITC) is still available for solar and battery projects. You will get 30% of the total system cost back in the form of a tax credit. Furthermore, you can carry the credit forward if you cannot use it all on your next tax bill.

  • There are a few factors that determine how much solar production a system will generate. The primary factor is sun exposure, as you might imagine. If your house is covered in trees and only receives a few hours of sunlight per day, solar probably doesn’t make sense. Other conditions such as roof pitch and what your roof is made of impact whether solar will be feasible. That being said, let our experts evaluate your roof and exposure to determine if solar is right for you.

  • No. While your solar system technically could provide power, safety requirements necessitate the solar systems be shut off so that power lines can be fixed. Allterra offers battery back up to keep your home up and running during an outage.
